Joe Biden, the USDemocratic Presidential nominee, understands the pain Muslim-Americans feeltowards what is happening in Muslim-majority countries and in those with asignificant Muslim populations.

The last threedecades were very much painful for Muslims around the globe. The Mediaportrayed a distorted image of Muslims, while Islam is a peaceful religion.Although every fifth person is Muslim in this World, and there are almost closeto two billion Muslims around the World. There are 57 Muslim Countries that aresovereign states members of the UN. Muslim World is blessed with abundantnatural resources, especially in the Energy sector. They are the primarysupplier of Oil and gas to the rest of the World, yet, they are humiliated  and victimized severely, either it is Iraq,Libya, Yemen, Afghanistan, or India.

In a policy paper“Joe Biden’s agenda for Muslim-American Communities” posted on his campaignwebsite (https://joebiden.com/muslimamerica/), the US Democratic Presidentialcandidate asked the Indian government to take all necessary steps to restorerights for all the people of Kashmir.

Restrictions on dissent, such as preventingpeaceful protests or shutting or slowing down the Internet, weaken democracy,”Joe Biden remarked. Expressing disappointment over the measures taken by theIndian government for the implementation of the NRC in Assam and the CAA, JoeBiden said, “These measures are inconsistent with the country’s long traditionof secularism and with sustaining a multi-ethnic and multi-religiousdemocracy.”

The IndianOccupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJ and K) are under a military siege since August5, 2019, when New Delhi revoked its autonomous status, and now the valley hasbeen turned into an open-air prison. Almost 900,000 troops are implementing acurfew on 8 million people of Jammu and Kashmir. We all experienced lock-downdue to COVID-19 for some time, and we can understand the bitterness ofisolation, although the lock-down was not very strick and implemented byfriendly administrations and police, with a lot of flexibility based on anindividual’s personal needs. Meanwhile, Kashmir is under curfew from an enemyadministration and Army.  Joe Bidenunderstands the sufferings of the Kashmiri people and knows the feelings ofMuslims in the US.

The amendedCitizenship Act aims to de-bar Muslims migrating from neighboring countrieswhile allowing non-muslims to migrate from neighboring countries. The immediatepossible impact was on around two million Muslims, migrated from Bangladesh, and might face de-nationalization and deportation.

Previous fewGovernments in the US, even well-aware of Human Rights Violations of Muslims inIndia, kept silent. Human Rights Watch reports, were set aside and refrainedcondemning India. American Council for Religious Freedom, has recommendedactions against India to the Trump Administration regarding the abysmalsituation of freedom of religion in India. However, President Trump kept hiseyes, ear, and lips closed.

It is worthmentioning that in India, there are roughly 250 Million Muslims, 150 millionSikhs, an almost equal number of Christians, around 500 Million low-casteHindus, mainly untouchables, and many other minorities. Only the upper-classextremists, who has hijacked political power in India for a couple of decades, are trouble makers. Their population is estimated not more than 8%.

Joe Biden’sremarks make 92% of Indians happy, while only 8% might be offended. Hiscomments will have a significant impact on the upcoming Presidential electionto be held in November 2020. President Trump launched his election campaignwith PM Modi during his visit to the US and later on Trump’s visit to India.President Trump might gain favor from 8 % of Indians, while Joe Biden may enjoyfavor from 92% of Indians.

Furthermore,President Trump may get the support of 8 million Jews around the World, whileJoe Biden may gains sympathies from almost two billion Muslims in the World. Itis rather early to predict who will win the election and who will be nextPresident of the US. But, Joe Biden is definitely getting sympathies and praysfrom the Muslim World. It is believed that his policy statement will be proveda decisive turning point in his election campaign.
